Good News Frances Rice: THE IRON BUTTERFLYAugust 2008 Introducing the most politically incorrect person in America. By Andrew Peterson The conservative blog Stuck on Stupid (named for the colorful phrase coined by Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, who used it in response to obtuse questioning by a reporter at a press conference in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina) brings us the remarkable story of Frances Rice, leader of the Black Republican Association in Sarasota, FL. This singular woman is without a doubt the most politically-incorrect person in America. Frances Rice runs against the grain of most Democrats when she calls them racist. She doesn’t care. That is her belief and she isn’t backing down. Her “Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican” (Rice article on why MLK was a Republican) billboards angered many on both sides of the aisle. She is still waiting for the Democrats to prove her wrong on the MLK billboards without any challenge to the contrary yet. Frances Rice's billboards are incredibly provocative – and subversive. The last thing most people think of when they see a picture of Martin Luther King is the Republican Party. How many school text books mention this fact? How many school children, who are taught practically from birth to believe that the Democrat party "is for civil rights" and the Republican party "is against civil rights" know that the leader of the civil rights movement was a Republican? How many parents of these school children realize that the men who ordered the use of fire hoses and police dogs on civil rights protestors in the 1960s were members of the Democrat party? In the pages of her magazine "The Black Republican" you find more shockingly contrarian messages: ... a picture of Ku Klux Klan members burning a cross, with the caption “Every person in this photograph was a Democrat.” You'd expect Rice to draw the ire of Democrats. But she's taken heat from her own party too. But she doesn't waver from her path. When hearing that the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, had expressed disappointment in her magazine, The Black Republican, which Greer had secured party money to publish, Rice dismissed it with a wave of her hand. It is hard to put into words how much we admire Rice. We can't help but see how rare courage like hers is in the Republican party. Listen to her talk about her own life and you will hear the essence of conservatism. This is the antidote for the political poison the Democrat party is trying to force-feed the country. “This is the first time in my life that I have felt I am actually doing something about what the Democrats have done in the past and are doing now to black people,” Rice said. “If the Democrats had left us alone after the Republicans freed us from slavery we wouldn’t be having this discussion today. They are keeping blacks in virtual slavery.” Our Take Night is day and day is night in the Democrat party universe. There are times when all we can do is stare in amazement at the breadth and depth of the falsehoods that surround us. It's easy to be tempted into despair that we will ever beat them back – our efforts to do so seem small and futile. So let us be thankful when we hear of people like Frances Rice. Her courage and boldness should inspire us and renew our belief that we can make a difference and fight for that which we know is true. Link to article.
