Anti-Jewish Slurs Push Obama

In one pro-Obama op-ed, Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Mary Mitchell calls Barak Obama a liar, describes the racist Farrakhan and Wright as heroes, uses anti Jewish buzzwords, and pretends to understand what Jewish Americans think. When Sen. Barack Obama "rejected" and "denounced" the support of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan during the MSNBC debate last week, it wasn't his finest hour, according to one Blog. After all, it’s all about the race game and Obama knows who to play it to perfection:

• Fortunately for Obama, most black people understand the game.
• Calling Obama a liar? His denial of Farrakhan is just a game. Maybe that’s why he has members of the Nation of Islam on his campaign staff;
• No matter how many times Farrakhan explains, defends or refutes anti-Semitic comments that have been attributed to him, his kiss is still the kiss of death.
• Please Ms. Mitchell, how do you defend comments such as: Saviors Day, Chicago, Illinois, 2/26/06; "These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. It’s the wicked Jews, the false Jews that are promoting Lesbianism, homosexuality. It’s wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!"
• "Is Jerusalem surrounded by armies now? These neocons and Zionists have manipulated Bush and the American government and our boys and girls are dying in Iraq and in Afghanistan for the cause of Israel, not for the cause of America! Israel is the tail wagging the dog, which is America. You may not like me, and I really don’t give a damn. I’m throwing the gauntlet down today."
• Maybe Mitchell doesn’t read the newspapers ... but the Israeli Government recommend AGAINST going into Iraq. So tell me how is he not an anti-Semite? This is how your hero has defended his bigotry
• Millions More Movement rally, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 8/31/05: "I’m not an anti-Semite, I never have been one. I do not hate the Jewish people; put that down! What I hate is the degree of control that they exercise over black intellectual, cultural expression. I do not think that no human being should determine how high we can go, that can only be determined by God and by us; not by no white man, no black man, no human being." [crowd cheers]
• Yes the Jews Control EVERYTHING, We keep the black man down..You better watch out minister because we do control the banks and can shut off your cash card anytime we want.
• Ms. Mitchell, do you really believe that Farrakhan is NOT a Jew hater? I am not implying that he is an Israel hater—I am saying that he is Jew Hater.

• Saviors Day: Chicago, 02/27/05: “Listen, Jewish people don’t have no hands that are free of the blood of us. They owned slave ships, they bought and sold us. They raped and robbed us. If you can’t face that, why you gonna condemn me for showing you your past, how then can you atone and repent if somebody don’t open the book with courage, you don’t have that, but I’ll be damned, I got it."

Our Take

It is a sad state of affairs when race has to be involved as a factor in any undertaking, let alone the seeking of the highest office of the land. Be that as it may, we can only hope that Obama chooses to play his chances straight up and not to capitalize on the viewpoints of those who prejudge others on the basis of their skin color, whether that color is black or white or any of a thousand shades in between.
