2008 Election Cover-Ups Pro-obama mosques in U.S. maintain their tax-exempt statusOctober 2008 Andrew Peterson Political Correctness Protects This
Such electioneering is against federal election law, since Mosques, like other places of worship, are only able to retain their tax-exempt status so long as they avoid engaging in political activity. The group leading these efforts, Muslim Americans for Obama (MAFO), claims, incredibly, that it is non-partisan. Incriminating evidence against this absurd assertion extends beyond MAFO's name: a quick look at its Mission Statement reveals that the group was founded in August of 2008 ... ""to provide a vehicle for Muslim-American supporters of Barack Obama to organize and mobilize our fellow citizens to get out the vote to elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States." Robert Spencer, the Director of Jihad Watch, contends that MAFO is flouting election law: "When they are running these voter registration drives at mosques, really it's essentially illegal because they are clearly trying to get people to vote for Obama -- and that's in violation of their tax-exempt status," Spencer charges. "So this is a group that is crossing the line and ought to be disciplined as such." MAFO is pursuing a shrewd strategy, concentrating its efforts in battle-ground-states like Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia -- where a relatively small shift in voter turnout could have a disproportionately large effect. Disinterest on the part of the media and federal election officials is hardly surprising. Obama's hold on the press was solidified long ago, and his big-government agenda is attractive to those bureaucracies whose budgets and power would be enhanced in the event of an Obama victory. Add to that the forces of political correctness, who invariably resort to charges of racism whenever Obama is criticized. ...I kind of doubt that they will be [disciplined], given the politically correct atmosphere nowadays," he says. "I wouldn't be the least surprised if no action is taken against them." Our Take The fight against this kind of ingrained, institutional bias is a tough, uphill slog for those willing to make the effort. Robert Spencer is to be commended for calling attention to MOFA's blatant abuse of its tax-exempt status. CoverUps urges readers to visit and contribute to Jihad Watch -- they're one of the good guys in the culture wars, and worth supporting in the absolutely vital effort to keep Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.
